New Kitchen: The Project Begins

Ever since my first month in my Mountain View home I have wanted to replace the dated, 80s era kitchen updated. The cabinets are oak, the countertop tan Corian, the floor vinyl, and the beige appliances ancient. A couple month ago I signed the contracts need to replace anything and today we broke ground.

What follows is the “before” picture that I will update throughout the project. I have high hopes that my contractor can keep his estimate of a three week project. But, what I know of contractors tells me the project could take much longer. My fingers are crossed.

The fridge and oven are very old. The microwave only a few years old.

Currently my microwave is above the oven. I will lose this feature once my new hood is installed on top of my high BTU cook top.

The worst part of the kitchen: two half-sized pantries each with their own door. I am consolidating these into one large walk-in!

  1. Your grill it cookbook is prominently dispayed. Wise choice as you may be grilling for the next month or so.
Good Luck and keep us posted.

  2. Yeah! Tile in the bathroom. I plan on going hardwood on the rest of the floor in a future product. But not during this one.
